Matt and I spent about 30 minutes with Cindy in ICU. She's in pretty rough shape, in alot of pain, and not too coherent. I shared the miraculous news of how well the surgery went and it brought tears to her eyes. Of course, 10 minutes later she couldn't remember any of our conversation, so I told her all over again and she was thrilled as if hearing it for the first time. This could be fun telling Cindy the good news about every 10 minutes and watching her thrilled reaction, again and again. Precious moments.

Update (3/2/09 - 1:00pm)
Waiting to see Cindy in ICU. I can't wait to tell her the good news; how the Lord heard our cries and answered our prayers and the prayers of so many faithful people.
"Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!" Ps. 66:16-20
"Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord."
Ps. 117
"You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." Ps. 118:28-29

Update (3/2/09 - 12:10am)
Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just spoke with the surgeons. They are finished! Much sooner than planned, because it went much better than expected. They did not have to sever the femoral nerve root! They did not have to remove the kidney! They did not have to take any colon!
The vertebrae was beautifully reconstructed.
All our prayers were answered!!
Please continue to pray for Cindy's recovery. The surgeons won't know for sure if there has been any collateral nerve damage for a while.
Thank you everyone for your faithful and effective prayers!!

"Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord himself is God; it is he that has made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. For the Lord is good; his lovingkindness is everlasting and his faithfulness to all generations." Ps. 100

Just spoke with a nurse. Cindy is doing fine. They have successfully removed the tumor, but no information on the kidney, colon or femoral nerve. Please pray. I expect to know more in about 2 hours.

"O love the Lord, all you godly ones! The Lord preserves the faithful and fully recompenses the proud doer. Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord." Ps. 31:23-24

Update (3/2/09 - 10:00am)
Surgery started at 9:10 and we anticipate an update in about an hour. We will keep you all updated as updates come in.
Thanks for your prayers! We are very thankful for the prayers that are being lifted up every minute, it really means a lot. And how awesome is it that we have a God who is ready and waiting for us to bring our burdens to Him? These past couple days have been really cool, being able to see God's hand really at work. Keep up the prayer and encouragement, they are not going unnoticed!
-Matt
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
-Matthew 11:28-30

Update (3/2/09 - 7:45am)
They took Cindy down to the operating room about 30 minutes ago. I will provide updates as they come in.
Matt and I had a special time of prayer and scripture reading with Cindy late last night. More prayer and scripture reading early this morning. She got some sleep last night. This morning, her spirits were high and she looked strong.
Thank you in advance for your prayers. Particular requests:
1. Supernatural strength for Cindy. She hasn't eaten much in the last 2 days. The Lord will have to be her strength today.
2. Successful removal of the tumor, in tact.
3. Protection of her kidney, colon, and especially her femoral nerve.
4. Supernatural skill, wisdom, and endurance for the surgeons.
