Cindy is fighting a lot of pain today, but making great progress in the battle of the bowels. Her xray today showed that her small intestine is clear, so the air is now confined to the large intestine and working its way out. Probably another 24hrs with the suction tube. The bloating in her stomach is noticeably reduced. The swelling in her legs is greatly reduced. At one point, Cindy was retaining about 30 lbs of excess fluid in her lower body.
Cindy is doing as much walking and moving around as she can tolerate with the pain. Earlier today, she went down to the gym and we played a couple games of tennis - on the wii of course. Then she came back up to her room, rested for a few minutes and then went out and did a lap around the floor. She is making such good progress that the nurses have begun turning their attention to other more needy patients.
Nick has been a big help, especially in my absence. He will carry the load again tonight and tomorrow while I'm out of town for an interview.
Please pray that Cindy's bowel continues to rid itself of the air and that her suction tube can be removed tomorrow. Then she will be able to take pain medication to better manage her pain and begin to eat.
We are encouraged by Cindy's progress and by your continued support and prayers.
-Rick

That's phenomenal news! Sounds like you are gaining momentum Cindy. We'll keep the prayers coming, you just keep doing what you're doing. Love and hugs, Lisa
ReplyDeleteDear Cindy,
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to hear the wonderful progress not only in the bathroom but also in the way you are getting around especially without any nourishment since Sunday. It is obvious that God is providing the strength you need, His bread of life. May He continue to provide what you need in strength so you are able to continue to move around. It's great that Nick can be there too while Rick takes care of dealing with job prospects and maybe catching some sleep along the way. You are all such an inspiration to all of us. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with each one of you.
We love you all!
Love to all, Debbie
Hello Cindy.
ReplyDeleteWe are continuing to pray for you and your family. We love you--you are a blessing to us.
Here is some news for a distraction for you: Karen Kingsbury released a new book yesterday, Take One. It includes some of the Baxters! Won't that be fun to read when you feel the time is right (maybe while you are recovering at the Scheihings :) Also, if you go to her website she has a new t-shirt available and I think we would all agree that it was made for you. Go there and check it out, under Special Offers, it is the t-shirt at the top. You could 'belong' there, Cindy.
We'll be praying. God is so good, great is His faithfulness!!
Love,
Johnna
